In this position, the candidate will be accountable for the technical execution of the program and for supporting a cost-effective system solution. This senior technical position requires a top performer with strong tactical and space systems engineering and RF communication payloads. It also requires the ability to work in a multi-disciplined, cross functional team in the execution of program goals. This role will require regular engagement with the customer as well as with internal Engineering teams, and active participation in customer and program technical reviews. The Chief Engineer will serve as the key technical interface to the customer to determine the technical solution to their requirements. The candidate also plans, organizes, and leads technical reviews, supports the day-to-day operations, provides suggestions for technical decisions and designs, and interfaces directly with the Program Manager. The candidate will be responsible for meeting all technical requirements on the program. The Chief Engineer role is responsible for the overall cost, schedule, and technical execution of a development and ground demonstration program within the Special Programs portfolio of Space Systems. To learn more about Space Systems, click here: Activities include: * Guiding and directing all engineering teams (e.g. hardware, software, systems, specialties) to achieve program and technical success * Provide technical leadership in architecture definition and trades, requirements analysis, CONOPs, algorithms, interface definition, hardware and software design, procurement, integration, validation and verification * Provide engineering authority to all decisions impacting product integrity, system performance, and system functionality * Creating technical presentations to both internal and external customers * Communicating status, results, and recovery plans (if needed) to senior and executive management * Developing and maintaining customer relationships * Partner with the Program Manager to ensure flawless program execution * Partner with IPTs to establish and report engineering metrics/TPMs and provide engineering-approved inputs for EACs and/or proposals, as needed * Partner with chief engineers at all levels and centers to ensure appropriate engineering staff * Supporting new business development efforts through leading and writing proposals Required Skills: * Minimum 10 years of industry experience * Provide technical leadership on space and tactical development in RF communication payloads * Experience in a technical leadership role of a multi-disciplined engineering team * Experience organizing and leading technical reviews (SRRs, PDRs, CDRs, TIMs) * Experience in preparing and delivering briefings to management and customers * Experience in writing proposal tech volume, cost volume, and/or management volume * U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position requires an active U.S. Security Clearance as of Day 1 of Employment * Active Secret clearance Desired Skills: * Experience in the design and test of RF Communication payloads * Experience developing and delivering operational hardware and software * Experience in cost and schedule management using a government approved Earned Value Management System (EVMS) * Familiarity with DOORS or similar requirements management software and/or processes Required Education: * Bachelors degree in Engineering, Sciences, Math, or related discipline Desired Education: * Masters degree in Engineering, Sciences, Math, or related discipline #Space2020 **U.S. Citizenship Status is requires as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems* 173087 Raytheon is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
